“Lasting contributions measured in course quality, club culture, and operational success.“
I lead by example—working shoulder-to-shoulder with my team, earning trust through action, and fostering a culture rooted in pride, purpose, and accountability. I believe great agronomy starts with great people, which is why I’ve prioritized hiring, developing, and retaining staff who understand the why behind the work.
To strengthen our team and confront labor challenges head-on, I integrated the SUNY Delhi Turfgrass Apprenticeship Program into our operation. Two team members are currently enrolled, gaining formal education while making meaningful contributions on the job—a model that accelerates development and builds long-term staffing stability.
In an industry where labor is highly transitory—often pulled toward outside sectors offering higher pay and better benefits—our retention rates tell a different story. More than 65% of our team has been with us for over seven years, and 45% have remained since my very first year at North Hempstead. This level of continuity is rare in golf course maintenance and speaks to the strength of our culture, leadership, and commitment to staff development.
I’ve promoted from within, cross-trained staff across core areas, and built a team-first environment anchored in mentorship, craftsmanship, and shared ownership of our success.
We also partner with local high schools to host field trips and job-shadowing days—sparking early interest in the turf industry and connecting students with career opportunities.
By holding myself to a high standard and investing in others, I’ve built a loyal, skilled team that consistently delivers championship-level playing conditions with pride and purpose.
